OTHER WISEFLOW SERVICES

Optional service packages that boost security, quality, and flexibility across your assessment ecosystem.
NO. 1

AUTHENTICICATION PACKAGE

Give users flexible and secure login options by adding additional authentication methods to your WISEflow license.

BACKGROUND

Each WISEflow license comes with one default authentication method, which is sufficient for many institutions — whether they use standard WISEflow login, federated EDUgain providers (e.g. WAYF, FEIDE, SWAMID), or Microsoft/Azure identity management. However, some institutions need to offer multiple login options to different user groups, meet legal requirements, or support varied identity management setups. The Authentication Package makes this possible by enabling additional authentication methods on the same license.

PURPOSE

The Authentication Package allows institutions to supplement their default login method with one or more alternatives. This gives users greater flexibility and ensures the institution can meet technical, procedural, or regulatory authentication needs without compromising the standard WISEflow setup.

KEY FEATURES

Depending on the institution’s default authentication setup, the following options can be added through the Authentication Package:
1
WISEFLOW LOGIN

2
ACCESS TOKENS

3
OPENID CONNECT

4

5
Microsoft Azure login
6
MitID (DK)
7
WAYF (DK)
8

Note: Not all authentication methods can be combined. Institutions should consult UNIwise to clarify which combinations are possible.

NO. 2

FACIAL COMPARISON & AUDIO DETECTION

Smart, nonintrusive monitoring tools that help institutions uphold academic integrity during remote or lockeddown exams.

BACKGROUND

In remote and digitally invigilated exams, institutions need reliable ways to confirm identity and detect inappropriate behaviour without disrupting the exam experience. Facial Comparison and Audio Detection act as “soft invigilation” methods providing lightweight monitoring that supports integrity while keeping the process simple for candidates.

PURPOSE

These features help institutions ensure that the correct candidate is present throughout the exam and that no verbal collaboration takes place. By combining identity verification with audio monitoring, institutions gain an additional layer of integrity assurance during remote or onsite locked-down exams.

NO. 4

MALWARE SCANNING

A protective addon that scans all participant submissions in WISEflow to prevent the spread of infected files during exams and assessments.

BACKGROUND

As digital exams become more widespread, the risk of malware hidden in uploaded documents grows. Even though WISEflow is designed as an onlinefirst platform, many institutions still allow assessors to download submissions for offline marking. This creates a potential threat if participants unknowingly upload infected files. The Malware Scanning module addresses this risk by scanning all submissions before they are made available for download.

PURPOSE

Most participants act responsibly, but they may still be unaware of infections on their own devices. Institutions that lack universal antivirus coverage or simply want an additional layer of protection – can rely on WISEflow’s Malware Scanning service. It ensures that any infected file is caught before it reaches assessors or internal systems, providing peace of mind and a safer assessment workflow.

KEY FEATURES

1
AUTOMATIC SCANNING

Of all participant submissions and appendices.

2
QUARANTINE OF INFECTED FILES
To prevent download and further distribution.

3
IMMEDIATE ALERT
Sent to managers and assessors when a file is quarantined.
4
SUPPORT INSTITUTIONAL PROCESSES
By identifying threats while leaving decisions on next steps (e.g., resubmission or other actions) to the institution.

PREMIUM STORAGE

Keep your institution’s exam data securely stored for as long as you need it.
Premium Storage extends the default retention period in WISEflow, giving institutions full control over how long exam data is kept.

BACKGROUND

By default, WISEflow stores exam data for two years to comply with GDPR and ensure that personal data is not held longer than necessary. While this covers typical needs such as reexaminations, complaints and audit trails, some institutions require longer retention due to internal policies, regulations or student services.

PURPOSE

Premium Storage is designed for institutions that need, or want, extended retention of exam data. It allows full storage of exam papers, grades and related material for the entire period of the license agreement, while still giving individuals the option to request deletion where required.

KEY FEATURES

1
FULL DATA RETENTION

For exam data as long as the licence agreement is active.

2
OVERRIDES THE DEFAULT 2-YEAR LIMIT
Ensuring that no exam data is automatically deleted.

3
FLEXIBLE CONTROL
Enabling institutions to bulk delete exam data or remove individual users and records whenever needed.
4
EASY DATA ACCESS
With the possibility to export or extract all exam data via API or builtin WISEflow export tools.

COMMON QUESTIONS FROM HIGHER EDUCATION INSTITUTIONS

Why would an institution need more than one authentication method?
Some institutions serve multiple user groups, have mixed identity systems, or must comply with national login requirements. Offering several authentication options ensures inclusive access without disrupting the standard WISEflow setup.
Which authentication methods can be added?
Depending on the default setup, institutions can add: WISEflow login, Access Tokens, OpenID Connect, EDUgain logins (WAYF, FEIDE, SWAMID), Microsoft Azure, MitID (DK), WAYF (DK), Feide (NO), and MinID/BankID (NO).
Can all authentication methods be combined freely?
No. Some combinations are not technically compatible. Institutions must consult UNIwise to confirm feasible setups.
How does Facial Comparison ensure identity integrity?

The system periodically captures images during the exam and compares them against a stored reference photo. Invigilators can view comparison scores and images directly in the participation monitor.

Does Facial Comparison create a disruptive exam experience?
No. Both tools are designed as lightweight, nonintrusive monitoring methods. Students continue working without interruptions.
What does Audio Detection capture?
It records voices detected during the exam and provides live transcription and audio playback for invigilators. This helps identify potential verbal collaboration.
How does this the Formative Assessment package link teaching and assessment?
With LTI 1.3 support, teachers can connect WISEflow assessments directly to their LMS/VLE (Canvas, Moodle, Blackboard, Brightspace). Students access formative tasks exactly where they learn every day.
What can teachers do from inside their LMS?
Attach existing WISEflow assessments, launch marking and feedback views, automatically enrol participants, and even create new flows depending on setup.
Why is the Formative Assessment package valuable for students?
They practise in the same environment used for formal exams, reducing anxiety and strengthening assessment literacy.
Why is malware scanning necessary for WISEflow?
Although WISEflow is online‑first, many assessors still download submissions for offline marking. Malware Scanning ensures infected files never reach institutional devices.
What happens when a file is infected?
The system automatically quarantines it and notifies managers and assessors. The institution then decides next steps, such as requesting resubmission.
Does Malware Scanning slow down submission processing?
No. Scanning runs automatically and instantly when files are uploaded, with no additional work required from assessors or admins.
Why would an institution need longer data retention?
Some institutions have internal or regulatory requirements to keep exam data beyond WISEflow’s default 2‑year limit — especially for complaints, appeals, accreditation, or record‑keeping policies.
What does Premium Storage include?
Full retention of exam data (papers, grades, materials) for the entire licence period. No data is automatically deleted unless the institution chooses to remove it.
Can institutions delete data themselves?
Yes. They retain full control, including the ability to bulk‑delete or remove individual user records, and export all data through the API or built‑in tools.
