University of Copenhagen selects WISEflow as its digital assessment platform and WISEflow Originality for plagiarism detection

The University of Copenhagen has selected WISEflow as its new digital assessment platform through the SKI procurement framework agreement and WISEflow Originality as its plagiarism detection tool following a public tender. The decision was driven by a focus on functionality, technical requirements and price, ensuring the adaptation of solutions that meet both current needs and future ambitions.

Bring Your Own Device as a game-changer for choosing WISEflow

One of the biggest advantages the University of Copenhagen sees in WISEflow is the Bring Your Own Device approach. Students can use their own computers during exams, creating a sense of confidence and a more intuitive experience. For the University of Copenhagen, this means a decreased need to invest in or maintain expensive exam-room hardware, and the administrative process is simplified by removing hardware planning and management.

“Students will feel more comfortable using their own computers, and the new platform therefore benefits IT, study administration, instructors, and students alike,” explains Christian Hestbæk, Head of Division, UCPH.

The decision to adopt WISEflow is also based on a long-term opportunity to optimise exam processes. Multiple roles involved in the exam cycle can collaborate closely on planning, execution, and grading within a single platform. This creates better coordination between study administration, instructors, and external examiners, reduces manual processes, and ensures a more efficient and transparent assessment workflow.

WISEflow Originality won the public tender

WISEflow Originality is a new addition to the UNIwise portfolio and has quickly established a strong position in the market. The decision to select WISEflow Originality demonstrates that the solution has achieved an excellent product-market fit early on. The choice was based on functionality, technical requirements, support, and price showing that Originality already meets the high standards expected for plagiarism detection in higher education.

The focus was on functionality rather than the product’s age,” Christian emphasises.

To meet these needs, WISEflow Originality offers:

  • Advanced similarity and paraphrasing detection across student submissions, web sources, and institutional repositories.

  • Integrated workflow within WISEflow, eliminating the need for separate systems or manual file transfers.

  • Clear, customisable reports that help instructors interpret results effectively.

  • GDPR-compliant data handling, ensuring student data is processed securely and transparently.

A unified solution for digital assessment

With UNIwise providing both solutions, a fully integrated platform is gained. Not only does it combine assessment management and plagiarism detection, but it also strengthens the entire academic process. This unified approach supports multiple exam formats and combinations, streamlines grading workflows, and enables richer feedback options for instructors. For students, it ensures a consistent and accessible experience across all assessment types, reducing complexity and improving usability. By bringing everything into one ecosystem, the platform simplifies administration while enhancing pedagogical quality and inclusivity.

For IT-teams, fewer technologies mean simplified maintenance and stronger security. For study administration, it means less manual coordination and faster workflows. For instructors and students, it delivers a seamless, intuitive platform that supports every stage of the exam journey from planning and submission to grading and plagiarism checks.

“Selecting the same provider for both needs means fewer systems to manage and, more importantly, a significant reduction in complexity for our users,” says Christian.

A partnership built on transparency

The collaboration with UNIwise goes beyond a standard supplier relationship. It’s a strategic partnership built on trust and shared understanding. In a sector where digital transformation impacts every stakeholder, having a provider that understands the unique challenges of higher education is critical.

Christian highlights the importance of this dynamic:

“We experience an open and transparent approach where the supplier speaks a language we understand and brings strong industry expertise. This makes the collaboration convincing and effective.”

This transparency ensures that the University of Copenhagen is not just a customer but an active contributor to shaping the development of WISEflow Originality. By working closely with UNIwise, universities can contribute to the future product road map, align technology with academic needs, and ensure that digital assessment evolves in step with regulatory requirements and pedagogical trends.

AI and data security in the future

Christian points out that AI will have a significant impact on universities and that there is a shared responsibility between supplier and customer to develop products that keep pace with technological advancements. At the same time, data security and GDPR are becoming increasingly important:

“We are experiencing growing demands for data security and GDPR compliance, and it is an area that is taken more seriously as regulations become stricter.”

As the University of Copenhagen moves forward with digital assessment, the partnership with UNIwise ensures that they are not only prepared for today’s challenges but also positioned to adapt to emerging technologies and regulatory requirements safeguarding both academic integrity and student trust.
