Business Case February 2026 NHH Norwegian School of Economics; Østfold University College

WISEflow Paper Submission Module

Closing the gap between handwritten scripts and a digital assessment workflow.

This is relevant to you because:

  • You still run paper exams where handwritten reasoning, calculations and derivations remain pedagogically essential.
  • Your scripts sit outside the digital workflow, creating delays, handling risk and fragmented appeals.
  • You're carrying GDPR and retention risk from scripts held in offices and private homes.
  • You want digital marking and a clear audit trail without changing how candidates write.

Abstract

Many institutions still need paper where handwritten reasoning, calculations and derivations are pedagogically essential, yet their assessment operations have moved digital. This business case addresses the resulting paper-digital gap, where scripts sit outside the workflow that manages distribution, marking, moderation and appeals.

The Paper Submission Module lets candidates write by hand while the workflow runs inside WISEflow. Unique participant codes allow scanned PDFs to be identified and allocated automatically using standard office scanners. Two institutions report the results: NHH moved from posting carbon copies to international examiners to same-day digital access, and Østfold University College reached around 99% automatic identification after adopting simple templates and briefing invigilators.
