Business Case March 2026 BI Norwegian Business School

AI Assisted Grade Justification in WISEflow at BI Norwegian Business School

Three assessors test whether AI-drafted grade justifications hold up against academic standards.

This is relevant to you because:

  • You work under Norway's strict 14-day grade justification deadline and feel the operational pressure.
  • You want AI to draft justifications without surrendering academic ownership of the final wording.
  • You need evidence on output quality before putting an AI assistant in front of assessors.
  • You're aware that richer justifications may also give students firmer ground for an appeal.

Abstract

Grade justification in Norway operates under a strict two-week turnaround. This report covers a small-scale pilot at BI Norwegian Business School in which three assessors tested UNIwise's AI-assisted Grade Justification module across three exam flows, framed as a quality-first sanity test rather than a speed trial.

Assessors rated the generated arguments as strong and often usable with limited edits, while retaining full ownership of the final wording. The module delivered most value where good marking guidance already existed on the flow, and when answering why a grade was not one step higher. Assessors also flagged that lower-grade cases need closer review, since output can lean too supportive.
